A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has renewed scrutiny of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic credentials, declaring that he is willing to stake “any amount of money” on his belief that the President does not possess genuine certificates.
Speaking during a public engagement, George said:
“I can bet any amount of money that Tinubu doesn’t have genuine certificates.”
He also challenged the President to provide more details about his educational history, saying:
“Why are you afraid? Tell us who were your classmates because you wouldn’t have been the only one in the class.”
George further alleged that Tinubu had claimed to have attended Government College, Ibadan, and Children Home School, Ibadan, but asserted that inquiries at both institutions found no records of the President’s attendance.
“He said he went to Government College, Ibadan, and Children Home School, Ibadan. We went there, and there are no records of Tinubu’s attendance.”
He concluded by saying:
“The days of lying are completely over.”
The remarks add to the long-running controversy surrounding Tinubu’s educational records, an issue that has featured prominently in Nigeria’s political discourse, particularly during and after the 2023 presidential election.
Supporters of President Tinubu have consistently maintained that he met all constitutional requirements to contest the presidency. They also point to documents submitted to electoral authorities and court rulings that upheld his election.
