ADC, PDP Faction Agree on Joint Presidential Candidate for 2027

Opposition leaders have announced plans to field a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections following an agreement between the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The development was disclosed by factional PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki during the National Opposition Summit held in Ibadan. The faction is reportedly aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to Turaki, the decision is part of a broader strategy by opposition groups to consolidate their strength and present a unified front in the 2027 presidential race.

In addition, opposition leaders at the summit called for the resignation of Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging that he is unfit to oversee the upcoming elections due to claims of partisan bias in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The calls and alliance signal intensifying political realignments as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
