The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed condolences to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, describing her passing as a painful loss to the family and all those who knew her.
In a condolence message issued by the party, the ADC sympathised with Amaechi, his relatives, and associates during what it described as a difficult period of mourning. The party acknowledged the emotional impact of losing a parent and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
The statement noted that the loss of a loved one is never easy, regardless of status or public office, and urged the former Rivers State governor and his family to draw strength from the legacy and values she left behind. The party also encouraged them to find comfort in the support of friends, associates, and well-wishers.
According to the ADC, the late matriarch played an important role in shaping the life and character of her son, whose career has seen him serve in various public offices, including as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation.
The opposition party prayed that God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and wished them peace during the period of grief. It also called on Nigerians to continue offering prayers and support to bereaved families facing similar circumstances.
The condolence message comes amid an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, government officials, and supporters across party lines, many of whom have extended their sympathies to Amaechi over the passing of his mother. Such gestures reflect the tradition of solidarity often displayed within Nigeria’s political community during moments of personal loss.
Funeral arrangements for the late matriarch are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
The ADC maintained that while death is an inevitable part of life, the memories and contributions of loved ones remain a lasting source of comfort. The party concluded by praying that the deceased’s soul rests in peace and that her family finds strength to navigate the difficult days ahead.
