VDM Releases Alleged Audio Purportedly Featuring Tinubu in Conversation With Former Senator
Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, has released an audio recording he claims captures a conversation involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a former senator.
The recording, which has since circulated widely across social media platforms, contains a series of explosive statements allegedly made by the voice purported to be that of the Nigerian president.
According to VDM, the speaker in the audio allegedly said:
“They have been trying to take me out of the position but it’s not possible… and mind you I’m winning this election; I don’t care whatever is happening.”
The speaker was also alleged to have expressed dissatisfaction with Nigerians, saying:
“Nigerians deserve it because when I was running as a president they didn’t wanted me… Now all of a sudden they want me to rescue them from insecurity.”
The recording further allegedly claims that opposition figures were approached during the 2023 election cycle:
“As of last week I called Peter Obi again to step down for me.”
Additionally, one of the most controversial portions of the audio purportedly contains remarks relating to insecurity in the South-East:
“I will make sure the insecurity affect the southeast the more.”
The speaker also allegedly discussed continued borrowing from international financial institutions:
“Listen, I will continue to borrow more and more money from the World Bank, try to understand me.”
Another segment of the recording purportedly links insecurity and political financing:
“I won’t stop this insecurity because if I do; how will our party be able to raise funds to win elections.”
The audio further allegedly states:
“Even the loans am taking is to fund them, I have plans after I’m done as a president.”
As of press time, neither the Presidency nor representatives of President Tinubu had publicly authenticated or responded to the recording. Likewise, there has been no independent forensic verification confirming whether the voice in the audio indeed belongs to the President.
Experts have repeatedly warned that advances in artificial intelligence and voice-cloning technology have made it increasingly difficult to determine the authenticity of leaked recordings without forensic analysis.
Until independently verified, the claims contained in the audio remain allegations and should be treated as such.
Editor’s Note: The statements quoted above are allegations contained in an unverified recording circulated by VDM and have not been independently authenticated.
