VBM Condemns Illegal Access to INEC Database, Demands Immediate Arrest and Prosecution of Lere Olayinka and All Accomplices

The Village Boys Movement (VBM) strongly condemns the shocking and criminal abuse of Nigeria’s electoral system following the public exposure of information obtained from INEC’s restricted administrative portal.

The unauthorized access and public dissemination of a citizen’s voter registration records constitute a serious violation of privacy, electoral integrity, and national security. No private citizen, political operative, or government official has the right to access, extract, or publish information from INEC’s protected backend systems.

This is not politics. This is not propaganda. This is a crime.

VBM therefore demands the immediate arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Lere Olayinka and every individual involved in granting, facilitating, or concealing access to INEC’s restricted database.

The Nigerian people deserve answers. Who provided access to the system? Who authorized it? How many other citizens have had their records unlawfully accessed? These questions must be answered without delay.

With the 2027 elections approaching, this breach strikes at the very heart of public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process. If political actors can gain access to sensitive voter information without consequence, then the credibility of future elections is placed in serious doubt.

VBM warns that failure to punish those responsible will send a dangerous message that electoral data can be weaponized for partisan purposes. Such impunity would amount to an assault on democracy itself.

We call on INEC, security agencies, and relevant law enforcement authorities to act decisively and transparently. Those responsible must face the full weight of the law.

Nigeria’s democracy cannot survive if electoral systems are compromised and offenders are protected.

Justice must be served. Accountability must be enforced. The integrity of the 2027 elections must be safeguarded now.

VBM Condemns Alleged Illegal Access to INEC Database, Demands Investigation
Abuja, Nigeria — The Village Boys Movement (VBM) has condemned what it described as the unlawful access and public dissemination of information allegedly obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) restricted administrative portal, calling for a thorough investigation and accountability for all parties involved.
In a press statement signed by its Village Headmaster, Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, the group expressed concern over reports that voter registration records belonging to a Nigerian citizen were allegedly accessed and made public without authorization.
According to VBM, any unauthorized access to electoral databases represents a serious breach of privacy, electoral integrity, and public trust in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
The movement argued that no private citizen, political operative, or government official should have access to confidential information contained within protected electoral systems except through legally established procedures.
Describing the incident as a matter that transcends partisan politics, VBM maintained that the issue raises fundamental questions about the security of Nigeria’s electoral infrastructure, particularly as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
The group called on relevant authorities, including INEC and law enforcement agencies, to conduct a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged access to voter information. It also urged authorities to identify and hold accountable any individuals found to have unlawfully obtained, shared, or facilitated access to restricted electoral data.
VBM further questioned how the information was obtained, whether proper authorization existed, and whether other citizens’ records may have been similarly exposed.
The organization warned that any perception of unauthorized access to sensitive voter information could undermine public confidence in the electoral process and weaken trust in democratic institutions.
As Nigeria moves closer to another election cycle, VBM stressed the need for robust safeguards to protect electoral data and ensure that citizens’ personal information remains secure.
The movement concluded by calling for accountability, transparency, and strict enforcement of laws governing electoral systems, insisting that the integrity of future elections depends on the protection of democratic institutions and public trust.
