Popular businessman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest has generated reactions online after reportedly securing just 14 votes in an internal contest involving members of the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State.

The outcome has since sparked widespread social media banter, with critics of the ruling party mocking the development as a symbolic reflection of what may await the APC in future political battles, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Some commentators sarcastically remarked that despite enjoying lavish hospitality, “rice and chicken,” party members still rewarded Cubana Chief Priest with only 14 votes — a development they described as evidence of deep internal political calculations and shifting loyalties within the party structure.

Opposition supporters also interpreted the result as a warning sign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, arguing that public dissatisfaction and internal cracks may become more visible as the next election cycle approaches.

Commentators further noted that the incident may signal the gradual decline of traditional vote-buying politics, insisting that many Nigerians are becoming increasingly politically conscious and less willing to trade their votes for temporary material benefits. According to several reactions online, “the era of vote-buying is over,” as citizens now appear more focused on competence, credibility and accountability in leadership.
Political observers, however, noted that internal party elections often reflect local dynamics, alliances and strategic interests that may not necessarily translate directly into nationwide electoral outcomes.
Nevertheless, the incident has continued to trend online, with many Nigerians using humor and political satire to debate the future strength of the APC in the South East and beyond.
