BREAKING: ADC Edo State Executive Committee Dissolves Entire Party Structure Over Internal Crisis

In a dramatic and far-reaching decision, the Edo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the immediate dissolution of its entire leadership structure across all levels, citing deepening internal divisions and loss of direction within the party.

The directive, contained in an official dissolution notice dated March 30, 2026, affects the State Executive Committee, Senatorial leadership, and Local Government leadership teams. The decision, described as “binding and final,” signals a major shake-up within the party as it struggles to reposition itself amid growing political realignments nationwide.

According to the statement, the affected leadership teams were initially constituted to stabilize the party’s coalition process. However, the committee accused them of deviating from that mandate, instead fueling disunity and factionalization within the party.

The notice stated unequivocally that the leadership had “outlived their usefulness,” and ordered all affected officials to immediately surrender party materials in their possession to the state secretariat.

In a strongly worded section of the document, the committee also raised concerns about the age and capacity of some prominent party figures, specifically naming John Odigie-Oyegun, Oseriemen Osunbor, and Yisa Braimoh. The statement argued that their advanced ages hinder their ability to provide the “dynamic, focused, and forward-looking leadership” required to steer the party in the current political climate.

“The Edo ADC will not be held hostage by outdated structures or leaders unfit to drive the vision of our party,” the statement declared, underscoring a generational and strategic shift within the party’s state chapter.

The committee further warned that any attempt by the dissolved leadership to continue operating or presenting themselves as party officials would be considered null and void and met with firm resistance.

Security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were copied in the notice—an indication of the seriousness of the situation and the potential for tensions arising from the decision.

This development marks a significant escalation in internal party struggles within the ADC and could have broader implications for the party’s stability, especially as political alliances and coalitions continue to evolve ahead of future electoral contests.
