The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has unveiled its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode among prominent figures named in the structure.
The list, released on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre, brings together serving and former political office holders as well as party figures across various directorates and committees. The formal inauguration of the council is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
According to the released structure, Prince Tajudeen Olusi will serve as Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council, while Sanwo-Olu is listed as Advisory Council Chairman. Fashola and Ambode are named as co-chairmen of the advisory structure.
Other notable members of the advisory structure include Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu; Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and former Minister of Health, Adeleke Mamora.
At the campaign council level, Sanwo-Olu is designated chairman, with his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, serving as deputy chairman. Ojelabi Cornelius is listed as Vice Chairman I, while Obasa and Damilola Sonayon James are Vice Chairmen II and III respectively.
Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is named Director-General of the campaign council. Rasaq Ajala will serve as Deputy Director-General, while Adekunle Olayinka is listed as Campaign Secretary.
The council’s structure extends across several directorates and sub-committees covering different areas of election organisation and mobilisation. These include legal and compliance, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
The APC has also provided for grassroots mobilisation across the state’s local government areas and Local Council Development Areas, reflecting an organisational structure designed to extend campaign activities beyond the state leadership to communities and polling units.
The unveiling comes as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 elections. In Lagos, the APC’s campaign organisation is being assembled alongside efforts by other political parties to establish their own structures ahead of the governorship, presidential and legislative contests.
The composition of the APC council also brings together politicians who have held significant positions in Lagos politics over different periods. Fashola served as Lagos governor before becoming Minister of Works and Housing, while Ambode served as governor from 2015 to 2019. Sanwo-Olu succeeded Ambode and has remained the incumbent governor.
The inclusion of the three governors in the campaign structure places figures from successive administrations within the same election organisation as the party prepares for the next general elections.
The campaign council also includes an Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, which features several prominent personalities from Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Among those listed are veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, as well as Nollywood actresses Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Kosoko serving as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, is named Secretary, while Dare Olateju will serve as Assistant Secretary.
The inclusion of entertainers reflects the campaign council’s broader organisational approach, with different directorates assigned responsibility for specific sectors and constituencies.
The formal inauguration of the full campaign council is expected to provide the platform for members to commence coordinated activities ahead of the 2027 election season.
With the unveiling, the Lagos APC has now publicly defined its campaign leadership structure, bringing together serving officials, former governors, party leaders, political organisers and representatives of different interest groups.
The council will be expected to coordinate the party’s campaign activities across Lagos as political parties prepare for the next electoral cycle.
