Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has been formally charged with five sexual offences in the United Kingdom, according to confirmation from Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
The charges comprise one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. Court administrator James Baker confirmed the charges in correspondence with the media.
“The defendant has been charged with: Attempted rape, 2x Rape, 2x Assault by penetration,” Baker stated.
Poco Lee is scheduled to return to Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for a plea and trial preparation hearing. The upcoming proceeding is part of the pre-trial process and is not the trial itself.
The court has also imposed a reporting restriction aimed at protecting the identity of the complainant. Under the restriction, information capable of identifying the complainant cannot be published.
The confirmation of the charges provides the first official breakdown of the allegations since reports of Poco Lee’s detention in the UK began circulating earlier this month.
Poco Lee’s management and legal representatives have urged the public to avoid drawing conclusions before the case is determined. In a statement, the team said, “Allegations are not evidence of guilt, and no conclusions should be drawn until the matter has been heard and determined through the appropriate legal process.”
The management also rejected online claims suggesting that drink-spiking formed part of the charges, saying such claims were not included among the offences confirmed by the court.
The case has attracted considerable attention in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, given Poco Lee’s prominence as a dancer, hypeman and entertainer.
Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence and remains entitled to the presumption of innocence. His September 15 court appearance is expected to determine the next procedural steps in the case as the UK judicial process continues.
