Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, saying the outcome reflects the confidence voters have placed in his leadership.
Soludo, in a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, described Adeleke’s victory as an important expression of the people’s democratic choice.
According to the Anambra governor, the votes cast for Adeleke demonstrate the electorate’s belief in his administration and its development agenda.
“Their votes speak volumes of confidence in his administration and commitment to progressive development,” Soludo said.
He also commended Osun voters for participating peacefully in the election, noting that their involvement demonstrated the ability of citizens to influence the direction of their state through the democratic process.
Soludo’s reaction comes as political leaders across the country continue to assess the outcome of the Osun governorship election and its possible implications for Nigeria’s political landscape.
The governor also called on political parties, opposition groups and civil society organisations in Osun to put the election behind them and work together for the state’s development.
He stressed that governance should extend beyond political differences, urging leaders to focus on shared objectives that would improve the welfare of residents.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, the winner after he polled 511,067 votes. His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
The result secured Adeleke another four-year term and has generated reactions from politicians and other stakeholders across Nigeria.
Soludo’s call for unity is particularly relevant as Adeleke begins preparations for his second term amid expectations from residents for continued development.
The Osun election is also attracting national attention ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties studying voter behaviour, campaign strategies and electoral participation.
As the political contest moves beyond the election, attention will now focus on whether Adeleke can use his renewed mandate to consolidate his administration’s programmes and promote inclusive development across Osun State.
