Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call his political supporters to order amid heightened tension surrounding the Osun State governorship election.
Davido made the appeal on X as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continued collating results from the August 15 governorship poll.
“Call your people to order!! @officialABAT,” the singer wrote in his post.
The intervention came amid a series of political exchanges and allegations surrounding the conduct of the election and the ongoing collation process. Davido has remained particularly vocal about the election because of his close family relationship with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking another term.
The singer’s involvement has attracted considerable public attention because of his large following and influence within Nigeria’s entertainment industry. His comments have also added a celebrity dimension to an already closely contested political process.
