The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has met with leaders and volunteers of the City Boys Movement as the ruling party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda held the meeting with members of the support group on Saturday, with discussions centred on the movement’s activities and its mobilisation efforts ahead of the next presidential election. The development comes as the APC and affiliated groups work to strengthen grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Bashir Ahmad, Deputy Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response for the City Boys Movement, disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X account.
According to Ahmad, the APC chairman interacted with the leadership and volunteers of the organisation and commended them for their activities across the country.
“We were honoured to receive the APC National Chairman at the City Boys Movement Headquarters,” Ahmad stated.
He added that Yilwatda encouraged members of the movement to sustain their efforts as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting is significant as political parties and support organisations are increasingly focusing on youth mobilisation and grassroots engagement ahead of what is expected to be a competitive presidential contest.
The City Boys Movement has positioned itself as a support platform for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign. Its activities have included youth mobilisation, political advocacy and efforts to promote the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
The latest engagement also reflects the growing interaction between the APC leadership and support groups working to expand the party’s reach beyond its formal structures.
Earlier in June, Vice President Kashim Shettima received leaders of the City Boys Movement at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During that meeting, the group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tinubu’s administration and mobilising young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election.
With the 2027 presidential race gradually taking shape, the APC is expected to intensify grassroots mobilisation, while opposition parties and their support groups are also building structures ahead of the election. The latest meeting therefore highlights the increasing importance of youth organisations in Nigeria’s emerging political contest.
