A young man identified as Yusuf Ahmad has reportedly been killed by suspected thugs in Dorayi Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to reports, the incident occurred after Yusuf was returning from a Maulud gathering. He was allegedly attacked by suspected street criminals, who inflicted injuries that resulted in his death.
The incident has renewed concerns over the activities of street gangs and other criminal elements in parts of Kano, particularly the threat they pose to residents returning home at night.
The killing also highlights the vulnerability of ordinary residents travelling through neighbourhoods where criminal groups operate.
Authorities will need to establish the circumstances surrounding Yusuf’s death, identify those responsible and ensure that they are brought before the law.
