Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has officially affirmed his intention to run for the presidency in 2027 while actively campaigning for Dr. Mo, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) elections.
Speaking during the grassroots campaign in FCT, Obi urged residents to support issue-based politics and to embrace candidates who prioritise accountability, good governance, and citizen welfare. He described his own presidential bid as a continuation of his commitment to reform and meaningful change in Nigeria, emphasizing that grassroots mobilisation at local elections is a critical part of building a credible national platform.
Obi’s declaration comes amidst growing momentum for the ADC in FCT, with volunteers engaging communities in intensive street campaigns, town hall meetings, and voter education initiatives. The former presidential candidate highlighted that supporting candidates like Dr. Mo at the local level is essential for strengthening democracy and preparing the ground for national leadership change.
The announcement further solidifies Obi’s presence in the 2027 political landscape, reinforcing his message of integrity, transparency, and youth-inclusive governance as he rallies support ahead of the next general elections.
