Nollywood veteran actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has publicly declared her support for Peter Obi ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, while describing the country as a “spoiled child” with abundant resources.
Ozokwo made the remarks at a gathering organised under the banner “Celebrities for Peter Obi,” where she spoke about Nigeria’s resources, wealth distribution and the need for purposeful leadership.
“I see this country as a spoiled child,” the actress said, arguing that Nigeria has been endowed with significant natural and human resources but has not fully converted those advantages into broad-based development.
“There is nothing God did not provide for us. Other nations of the world, if they have one quarter of what God has given to us, they will be better than what they are today,” Ozokwo added.
The veteran actress also raised concerns about wealth accumulation, claiming that some Nigerians have built substantial wealth for themselves and several generations of their families while many citizens continue to face economic difficulties.
“Some people in this country have laid up for themselves for their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,” she said.
Ozokwo further called on entertainers to recognise the influence they wield through their public profiles and integrity. She encouraged celebrities participating in the gathering to use their platforms to contribute to conversations about Nigeria’s future.
Her intervention adds another prominent entertainment-industry voice to the political discussion ahead of the 2027 elections. The event also reflects the involvement of some Nigerian celebrities in public advocacy around political candidates and national issues.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is seeking the presidency in 2027 under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), according to current reports. Ozokwo’s comments therefore place her among public figures openly associating themselves with his political campaign as the election cycle progresses.
