NDC House of Reps Aspirant Advocates Youth Skills Acquisition to Tackle Insecurity in Imo

An aspirant for the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Uzoma Chigbu TPM, has advocated massive youth skills acquisition programmes as a strategic solution to insecurity and unemployment in Imo State.

Speaking with COPDEM Media TV during the ongoing NDC aspirants screening in Abuja, the Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency aspirant stressed the need for government at all levels to prioritize vocational training, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment initiatives capable of creating sustainable livelihoods for young people.

According to him, insecurity continues to thrive largely because many youths remain unemployed and economically frustrated, noting that meaningful engagement and gainful employment would significantly reduce the attraction to criminal activities.

Uzoma Chigbu stated that empowering youths with practical skills and economic opportunities would not only reduce poverty but also strengthen peace, stability, and development across communities in Imo State.

“When youths are gainfully employed, the chances of involving themselves in insecurity will become very minimal,” he said.

The aspirant further emphasized that leadership must focus on policies that directly impact ordinary citizens, especially young people who constitute a major percentage of the population.

He assured constituents of his commitment to championing legislative policies that would support job creation, youth development, and economic empowerment if elected into the National Assembly.

The ongoing NDC screening exercise in Abuja has continued to attract aspirants from across the country, many of whom have outlined people-oriented agendas centered on good governance, economic reforms, security, and national development.
