Manillah Partners AMAC on 7.2-Hectare Gwagwa Main Market Upgrade

Manillah Integrated Partners Ltd has announced plans for the upgrade of Gwagwa Main Market in Abuja, describing the project as a partnership with the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) to transform the market into a modern commercial hub.

According to the company’s announcement, the proposed development will cover 7.2 hectares and provide a mix of retail and logistics spaces for traders, retailers and investors. The project is expected to introduce improved infrastructure and facilities aimed at creating a more organised trading environment.

The proposed market will feature shop units ranging from five to 30 square metres, alongside warehouses measuring between 70 and 140 square metres. The developer said the scheme will also include dedicated parking and loading areas, improved access, sanitation facilities, lighting and fire-safety systems.

Manillah Integrated Partners said the project is intended to support commercial activity in Gwagwa while providing additional space for businesses operating within the area. The company has opened expressions of interest from traders, retailers and prospective investors.

The development is also being presented as an extension of the company’s work on the Apo District Market in Apo Resettlement. Manillah said that project, which includes 700 lock-up shops and a banking hall, is currently at its final stage of completion.

The Gwagwa proposal comes amid wider interest in the development of organised markets and commercial infrastructure within the Federal Capital Territory. Modern market facilities can provide businesses with formal trading spaces while improving sanitation, security, accessibility and the movement of goods.

However, details including the project’s construction timeline, official groundbreaking date, pricing and allocation schedule are yet to be released. A recent report also noted that the company’s separate Apo market project is subject to ongoing court proceedings, although those proceedings do not by themselves establish the status of the proposed Gwagwa development.

The Gwagwa Main Market upgrade is therefore expected to remain under public and business interest as further details emerge about its implementation, approvals and development schedule.
