The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the passing of his mother, Mrs. Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso), describing her as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and the “epitome of love.”
Rhodes-Vivour disclosed the sad news on Monday through a heartfelt message shared on his social media platforms. In the statement, the family expressed gratitude to God for her life and legacy, saying she would be deeply missed by all who knew her.
“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour,” the statement read. It added that funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date. The announcement was signed by Olawale Rhodes-Vivour on behalf of the family.
Accompanying the announcement was a memorial tribute celebrating the late matriarch’s compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She was remembered as a woman whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on relatives, friends, and everyone privileged to know her.
Mrs. Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour was widely known as the mother of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, an architect and politician who was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election before emerging as the ADC’s flagbearer ahead of the next governorship contest.
Since the announcement, condolence messages have continued to pour in from political associates, supporters, and members of the public, many praying for strength and comfort for the Rhodes-Vivour family during this difficult period.
The family has requested privacy as they mourn their beloved matriarch and prepare for her final rites, promising to communicate funeral arrangements to the public in due course.
