The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has claimed that it has formally notified the United States, the United Kingdom, and several other foreign governments of an alleged leadership transition reportedly authorized by its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
According to a statement circulated by the group, the transition directive was said to have originated from Kanu while serving his prison sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre. IPOB maintained that the move is intended to strengthen its organizational structure and ensure continuity in its leadership and operations.
The group did not publicly disclose the full list of countries that reportedly received the notification, but insisted that key international stakeholders had been informed of the development. IPOB further stated that the transition aligns with its internal governance procedures and long-term objectives.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, or any other foreign country acknowledging receipt of the alleged notification. Nigerian authorities have also not issued a statement regarding IPOB’s claims.
