Due Process Violations Trigger ADC Leadership Crisis as State Chairmen Open to Reconciliation

Fresh revelations have emerged over the lingering leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as aggrieved state chairmen accused the Senator David Mark-led leadership of violating due process and sidelining duly elected party executives across the country.

This was made known during an exclusive interview conducted by COPDEM Media TV with the affected ADC State Chairmen as part of ongoing reconciliatory efforts by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) aimed at restoring peace and resolving the internal crisis threatening the party’s stability ahead of 2027.

According to the aggrieved chairmen, the testimonies gathered revealed that the current ADC leadership under Senator David Mark allegedly applied different rules and unconstitutional measures to unseat and scuttle power from legitimate state chairmen by excluding them from coalition discussions and the terms of engagement guiding the party’s restructuring.

They alleged that unknown individuals were allegedly installed across various states as ADC leadership representatives, while controversial structures such as the “MRMR Committee” were introduced despite having no recognition in the party’s constitution.

The chairmen further argued that their tenures had not expired and that both the state congresses and national convention were conducted without involving the duly recognized state chairmen, a move they described as a direct assault on internal democracy and party constitutional order.

Speaking during the interview, the FCT ADC Chairman, Chief Obah Clement, dismissed claims that the aggrieved chairmen were being sponsored by political interests.

According to him, their position is driven purely by a genuine desire to build a better Nigeria and protect the integrity of the ADC.

He stated that while the state chairmen remain committed to the vision of a New Nigeria, the manner in which the David Mark-led leadership allegedly threw them “under the bus” amounts to a clear disregard for the ADC constitution and democratic principles.

Chief Clement further noted that the aggrieved chairmen have consistently remained open to reconciliation and peaceful resolution, but lamented that Senator David Mark has allegedly shut all doors against dialogue since assuming leadership.

In response, COPDEM has called on Senator David Mark to urgently convene a roundtable discussion with the aggrieved ADC State Chairmen to collectively work out alternative conflict resolution and reconciliation modalities capable of resolving the current face-off.

The group stressed that lasting peace within the party can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue, constitutional compliance, and respect for existing party structures.

COPDEM also declared its readiness to serve as a neutral partner and coalition stakeholder in facilitating the reconciliation process.

“The cost of peace is far cheaper than the cost of war. Let us embrace peace quickly and place ADC on a reliable footing as we move toward 2027,” the group stated.
