Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, has pledged a total of ₦550 million to support student infrastructure at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), alongside an additional ₦25 million donation to the institution’s Student Union Government.
The announcement was made during FUTO’s 37th public lecture, where Dangote delivered a keynote address focused on enterprise, leadership, and national development. The funds, according to the business mogul, will be used to construct a modern student hostel aimed at improving accommodation conditions on campus.
The gesture was met with applause from students, faculty members, and stakeholders present at the event, many of whom described the donation as timely given the growing demand for student housing in Nigerian universities.
