Nigerian content creator Carter Efe has vowed to defeat entertainer Speed Darlington when the pair meet in a highly anticipated celebrity boxing bout on October 1 in Lagos.
The two entertainers exchanged heated words during a recent face-off ahead of the contest, which is part of the “Chaos in the Ring” series promoted by Balmoral Promotions.
Speed Darlington was heard telling Carter, “Na beating I go use beat you,” as tensions rose during the encounter. Carter responded by challenging his opponent to face him without the protection of a bouncer.
“Why you dey run follow bouncer? Make bouncer leave the two of us. I wan show you say I be 24-year-old boy,” Carter said.
Carter also explained that comments Speed Darlington allegedly made about singer Burna Boy had contributed to his motivation for the fight.
“The major reason I want to beat Speed Darlington is because he called Burna Boy gay,” Carter said, adding that he wanted to “beat Speed to embarrassment.”
The October 1 contest has attracted attention because both participants are prominent internet personalities with established fan bases. The fight is expected to draw significant interest from Nigeria’s entertainment and social media communities, where celebrity boxing has increasingly become a platform for settling public rivalries in a sporting environment.
The bout will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, and will be streamed live on DAZN.
Carter enters the contest after defeating street-pop singer Portable by unanimous decision in May. Speed Darlington, meanwhile, previously faced Portable in 2025 but failed to continue after the opening round.
The upcoming “Chaos in the Ring” clash therefore gives both entertainers an opportunity to strengthen their reputations in Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing scene when they meet on Independence Day, October 1.
