Those making the allegation claim the document was fabricated by individuals allegedly sympathetic to President in an attempt to discredit Cardinal Onaiyekan’s comments and the concerns raised by Catholic bishops over insecurity, economic hardship, hunger, and the impact of government policies on Nigerians.
The authenticity of the purported letter and the allegations surrounding its origin have not been independently verified. As of the time of filing this report, no credible evidence has been publicly presented identifying those responsible for producing the document.
Neither the Presidency nor the alleged Catholic youth organization has publicly responded to the claims. Likewise, there has been no official confirmation from the Catholic Church regarding the authenticity of the disputed letter.
