Bola Tinubu Records Massive Victories in APC Primaries Ahead of 2027 Elections

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged with overwhelming victories in the nationwide primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reinforcing his dominance within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC conducted direct primaries across Nigeria’s 8,809 political wards on Saturday, with party officials and governors announcing results that showed Tinubu defeating challenger Stanley Osifo by wide margins in multiple states.

The outcome has further strengthened Tinubu’s position as the APC’s undisputed leader while sparking debates online and among opposition figures over the credibility of some vote totals announced during the exercise.

Tinubu Secures Landslide Victories Across States

Results released by APC officials indicated that Tinubu recorded overwhelming support in several states, with some regions reporting near-unanimous backing for the incumbent president.

In Ogun State, party leaders announced that Tinubu secured 322,485 votes while Osifo reportedly received none. Similarly, officials in Rivers State declared Tinubu winner with 280,468 votes against zero votes for his challenger.

Other states across the country also delivered commanding margins in favor of the president, reflecting the APC’s efforts to demonstrate unity and consolidate support ahead of future electoral contests.

Party stakeholders described the primary process as a reaffirmation of confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and his administration’s political direction.

Several APC governors publicly praised the scale of participation, calling the exercise evidence of the party’s organizational strength nationwide.

Critics Raise Concerns Over Voting Figures

Despite the APC’s celebration of the results, critics and political observers have questioned the credibility of some figures released during the primaries.

Videos circulating on social media appeared to show sudden increases in vote totals during announcements in parts of Abia State, triggering allegations of manipulation and inflated figures.

Concerns were also raised regarding vote tallies announced in Imo State, where some analysts claimed the reported numbers exceeded turnout levels recorded in previous major elections.

Opposition voices argued that the unusually large margins and zero-vote outcomes in several states suggested the exercise may have lacked genuine competition.

Some civil society commentators also questioned the transparency of the direct primary process and called for clearer documentation of voter participation figures.

However, APC officials strongly rejected allegations of irregularities, insisting the primaries reflected the true will of party members nationwide.

APC Leaders Defend Primary Exercise

Senior APC figures described the direct primaries as peaceful, transparent, and highly participatory.

According to party leaders, the exercise successfully mobilized members across all geopolitical zones and demonstrated widespread support for Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the next election cycle.

Supporters within the party argue that the results reflect Tinubu’s continued influence over the APC structure and his ability to maintain political loyalty across key states.

The ruling party has increasingly focused on internal consolidation following recent economic reforms and political challenges facing the Tinubu administration.

Party strategists believe a strong show of unity now could help position the APC favorably as political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections continue to take shape.

Formal Confirmation Expected in Abuja

Tinubu is expected to receive formal confirmation as the APC’s preferred presidential candidate during a major party gathering scheduled to take place in Abuja on Sunday.

The event is anticipated to attract governors, lawmakers, party executives, and political allies from across the country as the APC seeks to project strength and continuity.

Political analysts say the primaries represent an early indication of the ruling party’s broader strategy for maintaining dominance in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the next general elections.

While opposition parties are likely to intensify criticism of the process, Tinubu’s commanding performance in the APC primaries has reinforced his position at the center of the party’s future plans.

As debates over transparency and voter credibility continue, the APC leadership remains focused on presenting a united front while preparing for the increasingly competitive road to 2027.
