ASP Nuhu Usman Shoots and Kills Restrained Suspect Mene Ogidi in Delta State

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman has been arrested after fatally shooting 28-year-old suspect Mene Ogidi, who was restrained and unarmed, at close range in Effurun. The incident occurred after Ogidi was apprehended over an incriminating parcel and reportedly offered to lead officers to the sender in Sapele.

The shooting, which was captured on video, has drawn widespread condemnation. In response, the Delta State Police Command confirmed Usman’s arrest, while the Inspector General of Police ordered all officers involved to be transferred to Abuja for a thorough investigation.

The killing has reignited public concerns over police conduct and accountability, with calls from activists and citizens for swift justice and comprehensive reform within the Nigeria Police Force.
