The member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has declared that the All Progressives Congress will not surrender any elective position to opposition parties in Kano State during the 2027 general elections.
Jibrin made the declaration while speaking on the APC’s preparations for the forthcoming elections, expressing confidence that the party would secure victories across the state.
The lawmaker said the APC had strengthened its political structures and was determined to reclaim and retain elective positions across Kano, including seats in the National Assembly, state legislature and other levels of government.
According to him, the party would approach the 2027 elections with a clear objective of ensuring that opposition parties do not take advantage of internal divisions or political disagreements within the APC.
He urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s objectives, stressing that unity would be critical to the APC’s success at the polls.
Kano remains one of Nigeria’s most politically influential states, with its large voting population making it a major battleground in presidential, governorship and legislative elections.
The state’s political landscape has traditionally been dominated by fierce competition between the APC and opposition parties, particularly the New Nigeria Peoples Party and the Peoples Democratic Party.
Jibrin’s declaration therefore signals the APC’s intention to mount an aggressive campaign across the state as the 2027 election approaches.
The lawmaker’s confidence is also coming at a time when political parties are beginning to intensify grassroots mobilisation and consolidate their structures ahead of the elections.
The APC will be seeking to strengthen its position in Kano after a series of political contests that have demonstrated the state’s fluid electoral landscape.
Jibrin argued that the party’s political machinery remained sufficiently strong to deliver victories across the state.
He called on APC supporters to work together and avoid actions that could weaken the party’s chances.

However, opposition parties are expected to challenge the APC’s dominance and attempt to expand their own political foothold in Kano.
The state’s electorate has historically shown that no political party can take victory for granted, particularly in closely contested elections.
Consequently, the APC’s declaration that it will surrender no seat is likely to set the stage for an intense political battle across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Beyond legislative seats, Kano will be particularly important in the broader 2027 presidential contest because of its substantial voting population.
Political parties are therefore expected to invest heavily in campaign structures, voter mobilisation and grassroots outreach in the state.
For the APC, retaining or gaining legislative seats in Kano would strengthen its presence in the National Assembly and provide additional political leverage.
