A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed doubts about the ability of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to meet expectations of integrity and credibility in future elections.
The ADC figure, whose remarks come amid rising political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, argued that the current administration risks failing what he described as a critical “integrity and credibility test” at the polls.
According to the party stalwart, public confidence in governance and electoral processes will play a decisive role in shaping voter behaviour, adding that Nigerians are increasingly demanding transparency, accountability, and effective leadership.
The comments reflect ongoing political tensions between opposition parties and the ruling APC, as various groups position themselves ahead of upcoming elections. Analysts note that such statements are part of broader efforts by opposition figures to challenge the ruling party’s record and present alternative visions to the electorate.
The APC has consistently maintained that it remains committed to democratic principles and credible elections, highlighting its governance record and reforms as evidence of its readiness for future contests.
The exchange underscores the intensifying political discourse as Nigeria gradually moves toward the next electoral cycle.
