ADC Calls on INEC to Probe Nafiu Bala Over Election Portal Access Claim

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate allegations involving Nafiu Bala over claims relating to access to the commission’s electronic portal, urging the electoral body to take appropriate legal action if any wrongdoing is established.

In a statement, the opposition party expressed concern over comments allegedly made by Bala regarding access to INEC’s digital systems. The party argued that any claim suggesting unauthorized access to electoral infrastructure should be treated as a serious matter because of its potential impact on public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.

According to the ADC, the credibility of future elections depends on the security and integrity of INEC’s technological platforms. The party maintained that the commission should thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the claims and, where sufficient evidence exists, refer the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for prosecution in accordance with the law.

The party also urged INEC to provide Nigerians with clear information on the security of its electronic systems, emphasizing that transparency is necessary to reassure voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development has generated reactions among political stakeholders, with some supporting the call for an independent investigation while others have advised against drawing conclusions before the relevant authorities establish the facts.
