A contestant in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary elections in Lagos State has issued an urgent call to fellow Federal House of Representatives aspirants, alleging attempts by certain interests to tamper with the outcome of the party’s recently concluded primaries.
In an official memo addressed to all NDC House of Representatives primary contestants in Lagos State, the aspirant described the primary election results as “the clear will of our delegates” and stressed that the mandate given by party delegates must be protected.
The memo claimed that credible information available to the author pointed to coordinated efforts aimed at manipulating the results and creating confusion within the party’s ranks. According to the statement, such actions, if allowed to succeed, could undermine the integrity of the NDC in Lagos State and threaten the democratic choices made during the primaries.
“This must not stand. An attempt to destroy our party in Lagos by a few individuals must be resisted,” the memo stated.
Calling for unity among all contestants, the aspirant urged fellow House of Representatives hopefuls to immediately establish contact in order to coordinate a common response and take lawful measures to safeguard the outcome of the exercise.
The statement emphasized that time was of the essence and warned that failure to act collectively could place the delegates’ mandate at risk.
“We must align, speak with one voice, and take swift, lawful steps to secure what our people have decided. United we stand. Divided, the mandate is at risk,” the memo added.
The development comes amid heightened interest in the outcome of the NDC primaries in Lagos State, with party stakeholders expected to closely monitor any emerging disputes relating to the nomination process.
