A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will eventually overcome its security challenges, urging citizens to remain calm and continue supporting the efforts of the federal government and security agencies.
Oyintiloye made the appeal on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. He said that although the country is currently facing various security threats, ongoing measures by the federal government would yield positive results and restore peace across the nation.
According to him, insecurity remains a major concern for many Nigerians, but the government is demonstrating commitment through strengthened military operations, intelligence gathering, and collaboration among security agencies.
The APC chieftain noted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has continued to prioritize national security by providing the necessary support and resources needed by security personnel to combat criminal activities.
He stressed that the fight against insecurity requires collective responsibility and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crimes and apprehending criminals.
“Nigerians should not lose hope despite the current challenges. The government is working tirelessly to ensure the safety of lives and property, and with the support of all stakeholders, insecurity will soon become a thing of the past,” Oyintiloye said.
He acknowledged the concerns of citizens over incidents of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other criminal activities in some parts of the country, but maintained that significant progress has been made in addressing the threats.
According to him, security agencies have recorded notable successes in recent months through coordinated operations that have led to the arrest of criminal suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims, and recovery of illegal weapons.
Oyintiloye further stated that the federal government is intensifying efforts to tackle all forms of criminality and ensure that every part of the country remains safe for residents, businesses, and investors.
He added that security remains a critical factor for economic growth and national development, emphasizing that peace and stability are necessary for attracting investment and creating employment opportunities for young people.
The APC stalwart also called on political leaders, traditional rulers, religious institutions, community leaders, and civil society groups to work together in promoting peace and discouraging activities capable of undermining national unity.
He said the security challenges facing Nigeria cannot be solved by government alone, noting that community participation and public vigilance are essential in winning the fight against criminal elements.
Oyintiloye urged Nigerians to avoid spreading misinformation, unverified reports, and inflammatory content that could create panic or worsen existing tensions within communities.
He also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and support government initiatives aimed at strengthening national security and fostering peaceful coexistence among different ethnic and religious groups.
The APC chieftain commended the efforts of members of the armed forces, police, and other security agencies who continue to risk their lives in protecting citizens and defending the country’s territorial integrity.
He expressed optimism that ongoing reforms and investments in the security sector would further enhance the operational capacity of security personnel and improve their ability to respond effectively to emerging threats.
As Nigeria continues to confront security challenges in different regions, Oyintiloye reiterated his belief that the country possesses the resilience and resources needed to overcome the situation.
He called on Nigerians to remain united, patient, and supportive of government efforts, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration among stakeholders would lead to lasting peace and security across the country.
The APC leader concluded by assuring citizens that with determination, cooperation, and continued commitment from security agencies, Nigeria would emerge stronger and safer in the years ahead.
