Abuja — Presidential hopeful and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, on Tuesday arrived at the national headquarters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Abuja for the party’s ongoing presidential screening exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi’s convoy entered the party secretariat at approximately 6:45 p.m., about 20 minutes after the Chairman of the Screening Committee, Sam Egwu, arrived at the venue.

Clad in his signature all-black kaftan, the former governor was observed handing over his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to an aide before proceeding into the screening hall.
He was accompanied by Senator Victor Umeh, who arrived alongside him amid heightened media presence and tight security around the premises.
Other prominent members of the screening panel include Buba Galadima, Ikeddy Isiguzo, Wole Adedayo, Udenta Udenta, and Henry Obaze, among other party leaders and professionals.
The screening exercise forms part of the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential race, as the party intensifies consultations and internal processes ahead of its primary election.
Obi’s appearance at the screening venue further fuels political discussions surrounding his expected role in the evolving opposition landscape ahead of the next general election.
