Kwakwaso Urges Nafiu Bala Gombe to Retrace Steps, Warns Against “War on Democracy”

A prominent political figure, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on Nafiu Bala Gombe to immediately retrace his steps and desist from actions he described as a threat to democratic stability in Nigeria.

Kwakwaso warned that Nafiu Bala Gombe should withdraw from what he termed external influences allegedly using him to destabilize the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has recently emerged as a major opposition platform.

In a strongly worded admonition, Kwakwaso appealed not only to Nafiu himself but also to those within his immediate circle and traditional and religious institutions. He specifically urged:

His friends and associates

His parents and family

The Emir of Gombe State

The body of Islamic scholars

to intervene and caution him against what he described as a “spoiler role” capable of undermining democratic processes and opposition unity.

According to Kwakwaso, the current political climate in Nigeria requires restraint, patriotism, and commitment to democratic principles, rather than actions that could weaken opposition structures or create instability.

The development adds to growing tensions within the opposition space, particularly around the ADC, as political realignments ahead of future elections continue to generate controversy and internal disputes.
