The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a public notice affirming that it will proceed with its scheduled party congresses despite what it described as “illegal actions” by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the statement released from its national headquarters in Abuja, the party maintained that it had duly notified INEC through official correspondence dated February 27 and March 28, 2026, and would not halt its internal processes.
The outlined timetable for the congresses is as follows:
Screening of Aspirants: April 7, 2026
Appeals on Screening Exercise: April 8, 2026
Polling Unit, Ward, and Local Government Congresses: April 9, 2026
Appeals on Congresses: April 10, 2026
State Congresses: April 11, 2026
Appeals on State Congresses: April 12, 2026
National Convention: April 14, 2026
The notice was signed by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi.
The development signals a deepening standoff between the party and the electoral commission, raising fresh questions about internal party autonomy and regulatory oversight ahead of the 2026 political cycle.
