LONDON, September 26, 2026 — The United Kingdom Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the party and advancing its programmes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was expressed during a high-level meeting between the NDC-UK Executive Committee and the party’s National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel on Saturday.
The meeting brought together members of the NDC-UK leadership and representatives of the Nigerian community from across Great Britain and Ireland.
Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State, briefed participants on developments within the NDC, the party’s progress since its formation and preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
The National Leader was in London while returning to Nigeria from the Netherlands, where he had inaugurated the NDC Netherlands Chapter.
During the interaction, Dickson expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and presidential ticket, while calling on institutions and officials responsible for conducting the 2027 elections to uphold integrity, fairness, responsibility and patriotism throughout the electoral process.
He also disclosed that he would return to the United Kingdom later in the year alongside the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other senior party officials for the formal launch of the NDC-UK Chapter.
The NDC-UK Country Chairman, Princewill Urum, thanked Dickson for his leadership and reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to advancing the objectives and programmes of the party.
Also at the meeting was the leadership of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), a Nigerian and global political network.
The COPDEM leader commended what he described as the direction and progress of the NDC, pledging that the organisation would deploy its available personnel and resources to initiatives promoting democratic participation and a credible electoral process in Nigeria.
The meeting ended with participants expressing renewed commitment to expanding the party’s structures in the United Kingdom and supporting its forthcoming electoral activities.
