Nigerian Afrobeats singer and businessman Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has revealed that his only regret in life is that his late mother never got the opportunity to watch him perform on stage.
The singer made the emotional disclosure during an appearance on the Brut Podcast, where he reflected on his mother’s life, her support for his music career and her reluctance to travel.
“My only regret in life is that my mom never got to watch me perform on stage before she passed away,” Mr Eazi said.
According to the singer, his mother, Pastor Ifeoma Edith Ajibade, was a conservative woman who disliked travelling. He recalled that she was uncomfortable even travelling between Lagos and Accra, making it difficult for her to attend his performances as his career expanded internationally.
“And the more my career progressed, the more I was travelling across the world to do shows. But she always supported me with prayers,” he added.
Mr Eazi also disclosed that his father only watched him perform live once, in 2017. However, he said his father has remained supportive and regularly calls to congratulate him whenever he releases new music or completes a major project.
The revelation highlights the personal side of fame, showing that professional success does not always come with the opportunity to share every milestone with loved ones. For Mr Eazi, his mother’s absence from his performances remains a lasting emotional regret despite her continued support through prayers.
