Rescue Nigeria Alliance Submits Formal Application to ADC, Reaffirms Open-Door Policy for Progressive Groups

The Rescue Nigeria Alliance (RNA) has formally submitted an application to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling its commitment to work with the party as part of a broad coalition aimed at repositioning Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued following the submission, the RNA said its decision to align with the ADC is driven by shared ideals of democratic accountability, people-focused governance, and the urgent need to rescue the country from worsening economic hardship, insecurity, and institutional decay. The alliance described the ADC as a credible alternative platform capable of unseating the ruling party in 2027.

The RNA also pledged to mobilise other sociopolitical organisations, civil society groups, and pro-democracy movements, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, to embrace and support the ADC. According to the group, building a united front among progressive forces remains critical to achieving meaningful political change.

Speaking on the development, the National Chairman of the Rescue Nigeria Alliance, Dr Basil Nwolisa, said the present moment calls for unity and collective action among reform-minded Nigerians.

Dr Nwolisa stated that there is no better time than now to harmonise and synergise efforts towards the emergence of a new Nigeria, noting that sustained collaboration among like-minded groups is essential to breaking the grip of failed leadership and restoring hope to the country.

Addressing journalists after the submission of the application at the ADC National Secretariat, the Secretary of the Rescue Nigeria Alliance, Mr Akor Christian Oche otherwise known as Due Process reaffirmed the group’s open-door policy, stressing that the RNA is not an exclusive platform. He affirmed that the alliance remains committed to bringing in more credible groups and individuals who share the RNA’s vision and values into the ADC, in order to strengthen the party’s reach and deepen grassroots engagement nationwide.

The RNA further emphasised that credible organisations and individuals who align with its vision are welcome to join the alliance, adding that inclusiveness, coordination, and collective ownership of the reform process are key to building a strong national movement.

The alliance said it would continue to engage the leadership of the ADC to harmonise structures, align strategies, and amplify policy-driven messaging aimed at offering Nigerians a clear and credible alternative ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political analysts view the RNA’s application and public outreach as part of growing opposition realignments, as civic groups and political actors intensify efforts to forge broad-based coalitions capable of challenging the status quo in the next general election.
