Gospel singer and cleric Nathaniel Bassey has received a surprise birthday gift from fellow pastor and close friend Jerry Eze, who presented him with a brand-new Range Rover to mark his 45th birthday.
Bassey celebrated his birthday on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and later revealed that Eze had secretly arranged the luxury gift with the assistance of his wife. The surprise reportedly caught the gospel minister off guard, leaving him unable to immediately express his emotions.
Sharing the experience on social media, Bassey said he had initially planned to spend his birthday quietly in gratitude to God.
“Woke up yesterday just desiring a nice easy day of gratitude to God,” he wrote.
He said he was unaware that Eze and his wife had been planning what he jokingly described as a “holy coup.”
“Of a truth, the surpriser had been surprised. Still don’t know how to really express this in words,” Bassey added.
According to the singer, Eze insisted on getting him the best possible vehicle after his wife reportedly suggested another option. Bassey recalled the pastor saying, “My brother can’t drive that,” before choosing the Range Rover.
The birthday gesture has attracted attention online, with fans and followers celebrating the friendship between the two prominent figures in Nigeria’s Christian community.
Bassey also used the opportunity to publicly appreciate Eze, stressing that their friendship was not dependent on material gifts.
“You know even if you never do this, I’d still love you the same. Thank you Sir. Like I told you, I am speechless,” he said.
He further described Eze as an exceptionally generous person and revealed that the pastor was planning similar surprises for other people.
