Nigerian singer B-Red, the son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has said his family did not venture into politics because of the financial benefits associated with public office.
B-Red made the remarks during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, where he discussed his family’s political background and his father’s future ambitions. He claimed that the Adeleke family had accumulated substantial wealth over generations and therefore had no need to depend on political positions for financial gain.
“We don’t need politics for money; we have been rich for a long time. My family is only in politics to help,” B-Red said.
The singer also expressed confidence in his father’s leadership ability, saying he believed Nigeria would experience significant improvements if Adeleke eventually became president.
“If my dad, Governor Ademola Adeleke, becomes the President of Nigeria, things will improve drastically,” he said.
However, B-Red added that he would not necessarily want his father to pursue the presidency because of the enormous pressure that comes with occupying Nigeria’s highest political office.
The comments are significant because the Adeleke family has become increasingly prominent in both Nigerian politics and entertainment. Governor Adeleke secured re-election as Osun State governor, while other members of the family have also held political positions.
The family’s influence extends beyond politics. Businessman Adedeji Adeleke, father of music star Davido, is a prominent member of the family, while Davido and B-Red have established successful careers in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The Adeleke family has also produced the late Isiaka Adeleke, who served as governor of Osun State and later as a senator. The family’s combination of political influence, business interests and entertainment prominence has kept it in the national spotlight.
B-Red’s comments come amid renewed political discussions about the possibility of Governor Adeleke seeking a higher political office in the future.
