Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, has reacted angrily to reports that the Afrobeats singer had been barred from performing in Edo State following his recent clash with Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Israel, who is from Edo State, dismissed the reported restriction and insisted that neither the governor nor any other individual could prevent Davido from visiting the state.
The controversy began after Apostle Kassy Chukwu, identified as an aide to Governor Okpebholo, said in a video that Davido had been banned from performing in Edo following their disagreement. The dispute emerged during political activities surrounding the Osun State governorship election.
Reacting to the development, Israel argued that Davido has a connection to Edo through his maternal family. He also criticised the governor’s aide and said the reported announcement should not be regarded as the position of Edo residents.
“No man on this planet Earth can ban Oga from Edo, his maternal home,” Israel wrote in a social media post.
The remarks have added another layer to the public disagreement between Davido and Okpebholo. The singer recently criticised the governor after Okpebholo made comments about Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
Davido subsequently shared an alleged copy of Okpebholo’s examination results online and maintained that he would not apologise for his comments.
The reported ban has attracted attention because it highlights the growing intersection between Nigerian politics and the entertainment industry. Davido has been openly involved in political conversations involving his family, while Okpebholo remains an influential political figure in Edo.
However, reports surrounding the alleged restriction should be treated cautiously, as the available accounts centre on a statement attributed to the governor’s aide rather than a clearly documented formal government order.
