Former Big Brother Naija housemate Bella Okagbue has opened up about her decision to end her relationship with fellow reality star Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz.
Bella addressed the breakup in a series of Instagram Story posts after watching what she described as different versions of her relationship being discussed publicly. She explained that she had initially chosen silence because she wanted to keep some aspects of the relationship private.
The reality star said she genuinely loved Sheggz and had defended their relationship because she believed in it. She also acknowledged giving him another opportunity because she believed people could change.
“I loved genuinely. I defended the relationship because I believed in it at the time, and I chose to give someone I loved a second chance because I believe people can grow and change,” Bella said.
However, she explained that believing in someone’s potential to change did not mean she had to wait indefinitely.
Bella also addressed speculation about marriage and an engagement ring reportedly purchased by Sheggz. She rejected the idea that wanting marriage with someone she loved amounted to desperation.
“Wanting marriage with someone you love is not desperation. Knowing when not to marry them is discernment,” she said, adding that “a ring doesn’t fix what made a relationship impossible.”
She further summed up her experience by saying: “A hundred promises. Not one fulfilled.” According to Bella, she eventually stopped concentrating on promises and began paying attention to recurring patterns in the relationship.
The comments followed Sheggz’s recent confirmation that their relationship ended in January 2026. He denied cheating on or abusing Bella and said attempts to reconcile after the breakup were unsuccessful due to issues of trust and respect.
Bella and Sheggz met during the 2022 edition of Big Brother Naija, where their romance attracted considerable attention. Their subsequent relationship became popular among fans, making their eventual separation a major entertainment story.
