The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded more than 80 per cent of polling-unit results from the Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV, as officials continue the collation process.
The latest figures indicate that results from 3,065 of the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded, representing 81.45 per cent of the expected results.
The electronic publication of the results provides political parties, candidates, observers and members of the public with an opportunity to monitor the outcome of the August 15 election as the process progresses.
INEC’s IReV platform is designed to make polling-unit result sheets accessible online, allowing stakeholders to independently examine results submitted from individual polling locations.
However, the results uploaded to IReV should not be confused with the final declaration. The electoral commission still has to complete the official collation and verification process before announcing the winner.
The Osun governorship contest has attracted considerable attention, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party facing Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other candidates, including Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The development is particularly important because the pace and transparency of result transmission can influence public confidence in the electoral process. The latest upload also comes after earlier periods when updates on IReV reportedly slowed, prompting concerns among some stakeholders. Davido, who has been closely following the election, previously questioned a delay in the uploading of results.
The 2026 election is being held against the backdrop of Osun’s history of competitive governorship contests. In 2022, Adeleke defeated then-incumbent Gboyega Oyetola, securing 403,371 votes compared with Oyetola’s 375,027.
As more polling-unit results are uploaded, attention will shift to the remaining figures and the official collation at the state level.
Until INEC formally declares a winner, all emerging tallies should be regarded as provisional. The final declaration will determine who secures the mandate to govern Osun State for the next term.
