Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken an early lead in the real-time results collation being conducted by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), as results from polling units across Osun State continue to arrive. Despite massively reported vote-buying and navigating huddles, Adeleke has retained a lead in the early count of votes.
COPDEM disclosed that its election-monitoring structure, comprising members deployed across more than 3,000 polling units in the state, is transmitting and collating results in real time through its election-monitoring application.
The coalition said its Situation Room has been monitoring the emerging figures, with Adeleke currently maintaining a slight edge in the independent collation.
EC8A Form Reveals Oyetola Lost His Polling Unit
As part of the revelations emerging from the data being captured by the COPDEM monitoring application, an EC8A result form reportedly showed that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola lost his polling unit.
According to the result captured by the monitoring system, Oyetola polled 81 votes, while Adeleke, contesting on the Accord Party platform, scored 120 votes at the polling unit.
The development has attracted attention as results continue to emerge across the state, particularly because of the political significance of the polling unit involving a former governor.
COPDEM said the EC8A forms and other result documents uploaded through its network are being subjected to verification as they arrive from field monitors.
The coalition’s Situation Room maintained that its election-monitoring application has demonstrated sufficient capacity to handle the volume of data being transmitted from polling units across Osun.
According to COPDEM, the deployment was designed to provide an independent, real-time stream of electoral information and enable citizens and stakeholders to follow the emerging results while the official collation process continues.
The coalition, however, cautioned that its figures remain independent monitoring results and should not be confused with the official results of the election.
COPDEM urged political parties, candidates and members of the public to remain calm and allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete its statutory collation and declaration.
The coalition said its Situation Room would continue to monitor, verify and collate results from across the state as they are received.
