LAGOS, Nigeria — Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon, Dr. Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo, has expressed profound gratitude after receiving a personal phone call from former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who commended the ongoing 65 Free Adenotonsillectomy and ENT Surgery Initiative organized in celebration of his 65th birthday.
According to Dr. Adebayo, the outreach has continued to attract beneficiaries from across the country, with more than 50 patients already screened and classified into surgical and non-surgical cases. He noted that some patients have also received treatment for other medical conditions identified during the screening process.
The medical outreach has drawn participants from Lagos, Benin, Awka, Enugu, and Owerri, underscoring the widespread demand for accessible specialist healthcare services.
Reflecting on the turnout, Dr. Adebayo said the diversity of beneficiaries demonstrates that illness knows no geographical boundaries and emphasized the need to make quality healthcare available to all Nigerians, irrespective of their location.
He announced that surgical procedures for selected patients are scheduled to begin this week, adding that successful beneficiaries will be contacted through the telephone numbers they previously provided during registration.
Dr. Adebayo also reminded members of the public that the final day of the free screening will end at 4:00 p.m. at Infirmorium Catholic Hospital, No. 1 Olufemi Street, off Ogunlana Drive, Surulere, Lagos.
She concluded by thanking everyone who has contributed to the success of the humanitarian initiative, stating that the project is restoring health and giving hope to Nigerians, one patient at a time.
The initiative forms part of activities marking Peter Obi’s 65th birthday, with a strong focus on providing life-changing medical interventions for patients in need.
