An aspirant of the NDC for Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State, Engr Obaseki Iguodala, has stressed the urgent need for massive youth employment and empowerment programmes as a strategic solution to the rising insecurity confronting Edo State and Nigeria at large.
Engr Iguodala made the revelation while addressing COPDEM Media TV during the ongoing screening of NDC aspirants in Abuja.
Speaking during the interaction, he lamented the growing rate of unemployment among young people, describing it as one of the major factors fueling criminal activities, cultism, kidnapping and other social vices in the state.
According to him, meaningful engagement of youths through job creation, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support and industrial development remains the most sustainable approach to restoring peace and stability in Edo communities.
The federal lawmaker hopeful noted that many young Nigerians possess enormous talents and productive capacities but lack opportunities to thrive. He maintained that government at all levels must shift attention from mere political promises to practical economic policies capable of creating employment opportunities for the younger generation.
Engr Iguodala further assured constituents of Oredo Federal Constituency that if elected into the House of Representatives, he would champion people-oriented bills and empowerment initiatives targeted at improving the welfare of youths, women and small business owners.
He also pledged to promote quality education, vocational training and technology-driven innovation that would prepare Edo youths for global competitiveness and self-reliance.
The NDC aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to good governance, accountability and effective representation, while calling on residents of Oredo Federal Constituency to support visionary leadership capable of delivering sustainable development and a safer society.
