Vice Principal Recounts Military Rescue After Terrorist Abduction in Borno

The Vice Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, Paul Namaske, has recounted his ordeal after being abducted by terrorists during an attack on Lassa in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, praising the swift intervention of Nigerian security forces that led to his rescue.

According to Namaske, armed terrorists invaded the community and abducted him along with several other residents before moving them away from the area. He said the captives endured a traumatic experience as they were held by the attackers.

He explained that the situation changed when the Nigerian military launched a coordinated rescue operation involving both air support and ground troops. The combined offensive reportedly disrupted the terrorists’ movements, forcing them to abandon their captives and enabling security personnel to rescue the victims safely.

Namaske commended the courage and professionalism of the military personnel involved in the operation, expressing gratitude for their timely response, which he said saved many lives.

The rescue highlights the continuing counterterrorism operations being carried out by Nigerian security forces in the North-East, where troops have intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, protect vulnerable communities, and rescue kidnapped civilians.

Security experts note that coordinated operations combining aerial surveillance, air strikes where appropriate, and ground forces have increasingly become a key component of military operations against insurgent groups operating in the region.

Authorities have continued to urge residents of affected communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence that could help prevent attacks and improve the effectiveness of rescue missions.

The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups across the North-East, while assuring citizens that operations to protect lives, secure communities, and restore lasting peace in the region will continue.
