The UEFA Nations League has produced a growing list of prolific goalscorers since the competition began in 2018, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyökeres among the most prominent names to have recorded hat-tricks.
According to UEFA, 18 different players have scored three or more goals in a single Nations League match, with Finland forward Joel Pohjanpalo the latest addition after his treble in Finland’s 7-0 victory over San Marino on September 26, 2026.
Portugal captain Ronaldo remains the only player to have scored a hat-trick in the Nations League Finals. He achieved the feat against Switzerland in the semi-final of the inaugural edition of the competition on June 5, 2019, helping Portugal reach the final.
Norway striker Haaland is another notable name on the list. He scored his first Nations League hat-trick against Romania on October 11, 2020, before adding another treble against Kazakhstan in November 2024.
Haaland has also established himself as the competition’s leading scorer. UEFA’s latest records put him at the top of the all-time scoring chart, ahead of Serbia’s Aleksandar Mitrović and Ronaldo. PUNCH reported that Haaland had reached 21 goals in 16 Nations League appearances after scoring twice against Denmark at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
Sweden forward Gyökeres also features prominently among the competition’s hat-trick scorers. He scored four goals against Azerbaijan on November 19, 2024, with UEFA classifying the performance among the competition’s hat-tricks. He has also maintained a strong scoring run, having found the net in four consecutive Nations League matches dating back to October 2024.
Serbia’s Mitrović and Slovenia’s Benjamin Šeško share the competition’s longest scoring streak, with each player scoring in five successive Nations League matches.
Mitrović achieved his run between June 5, 2022, and October 12, 2024, while Šeško matched the feat between June 12, 2022, and September 9, 2024. Both players also scored hat-tricks during those runs. Mitrović netted three times against Sweden in September 2022, while Šeško scored three against Kazakhstan in September 2024.
The list of Nations League hat-trick heroes also includes Switzerland’s Haris Seferović, Scotland’s James Forrest, Kosovo’s Arber Zeneli, Israel’s Eran Zahavi, Slovenia’s Haris Vučkić, Spain’s Ferran Torres, Montenegro’s Stefan Mugoša, Türkiye’s Kerem Aktürkoğlu, Northern Ireland’s Isaac Price, Montenegro’s Nikola Krstović and Kosovo’s Vedat Muriqi.
Haaland and Torres hold another distinction as the youngest players to score Nations League hat-tricks. Haaland was 20 years and 82 days old when he scored his treble, while Torres achieved the feat at 20 years and 262 days.
With the 2026/27 Nations League campaign underway, the record books could continue to change as established scorers and emerging forwards compete for goals. The latest addition of Pohjanpalo underlines the competition’s expanding list of players who have produced standout scoring performances on the international stage.
