Police Investigate Live Bullets Delivered to First Bank MD’s Residence

The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing two live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to the residence of Olusegun Alebiosu.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on May 7 when security personnel at Alebiosu’s residence received an unmarked package addressed directly to him. Upon examination, the parcel was discovered to contain two live bullets without any accompanying message, explanation, or details identifying the sender.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, confirmed that the matter was being treated as a serious security concern and had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation.

Investigators are currently working to trace the delivery process, including identifying the rider who delivered the parcel and examining the chain of custody to determine its origin and the possible motive behind the act.

Police authorities have urged members of the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue, stressing that no conclusions have been reached regarding the identity of those responsible or the intention behind the delivery.

The incident has heightened security concerns around Alebiosu, who was recently confirmed as the Managing Director of First Bank amid ongoing efforts by the financial institution to strengthen its operations and pursue major loan recovery initiatives.

Security experts note that anonymous threats involving ammunition or suspicious objects are usually treated with high priority due to the potential implications for personal safety and public security.

The outcome of the police investigation is expected to clarify whether the delivery was intended as a threat, an act of intimidation, or linked to another motive.

Authorities have assured that all available investigative resources will be deployed to identify those behind the parcel and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought before the law.
