The Plateau State Government has announced the immediate imposition of a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a tragic security incident that claimed lives and left several others injured.
The directive comes in the wake of an attack on Sunday, March 29, in the Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba, which resulted in multiple casualties and heightened tension across the area.
According to an official press release, the curfew will take effect from 12 midnight on March 29 and remain in force until April 1, 2026. The measure, enforced in collaboration with security agencies, is aimed at restoring calm, preventing further violence, and enabling security operatives to stabilize the situation.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang strongly condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked. He assured residents that decisive steps are being taken to identify and apprehend those responsible, with a commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.
Authorities have called on residents to remain calm and vigilant during the curfew period, urging full cooperation with security agencies. Citizens are also encouraged to provide any credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
The government reiterated its resolve to safeguard lives and property, emphasizing that maintaining peace and security remains a top priority amid the unfolding situation.
