Philanthropist steps in as ADC aspirant, targets education decay in Gombe.

A people-centred philanthropist and gubernatorial aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Engr. Mohd Adamu Maaji, popularly known as Dokajin Tula, has intensified efforts to confront what he described as years of neglect and systemic decay in public education across Gombe State.
In a proactive intervention, the ADC hopeful embarked on an assessment tour of public primary schools across the state, where he observed firsthand the deteriorating conditions of learning facilities, inadequate teaching materials, and the broader challenges undermining basic education in rural and disadvantaged communities.
The visit coincided with the launch of a school intervention initiative tagged “Books and Pen”, aimed at providing essential learning materials to pupils in underserved areas. The programme targets bridging the resource gap that has long hindered effective teaching and learning in public schools.

Speaking to journalists during the outreach, Mr. Molta Abubakar Topsy, Campaign Manager to the aspirant, said the initiative reflects his principal’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service and grassroots development. According to him, Engr. Maaji has sustained a longstanding tradition of supporting vulnerable populations, particularly in communities where government presence has been minimal.
Molta further emphasized that the aspirant’s policy blueprint, if elected, would fundamentally transform the state’s education sector while also addressing broader concerns of economic empowerment, security, and infrastructure development. He noted that the manifesto is designed to reposition Gombe State on a path of inclusive growth and sustainable progress.
Also identified as the Gombe State Chairman of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), Molta Abubakar Topsy highlighted the group’s role in advocating for transparency, accountability, and good governance across Nigeria. He reiterated that the ADC campaign aligns with these democratic ideals, promising a leadership style anchored on service, equity, and measurable impact.
Observers say the intervention underscores growing political attention on the crisis in public education, particularly at the grassroots level, where infrastructure deficits and policy gaps continue to widen inequality in access to quality learning.
As the political landscape in Gombe State evolves ahead of the next electoral cycle, initiatives such as this may shape public perception and influence voter expectations, especially among communities directly affected by years of educational neglect.
