Peter Obi Challenges Contractors to Prove Allegations of Kickbacks

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has challenged any contractor to provide evidence that he received kickbacks during his time in office.

Speaking at the Faithspiration Season 3 event, Obi highlighted personal anecdotes aimed at demonstrating his commitment to merit and integrity in public service. He cited examples including funding a pilot’s scholarship and supporting a Reverend Father he had never met, describing these actions as part of his broader philosophy of helping individuals based on need rather than connections.

Obi contrasted these experiences with what he described as Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges, including rising youth unemployment and cases of highly educated graduates struggling to find suitable jobs.

Reflecting on his tenure as governor between 2006 and 2014, he stated that he lived modestly without relying on state privileges and left office with financial reserves.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his stance on accountability and integrity, while critics questioned some of the anecdotes shared during the event.

The comments come amid ongoing national conversations about governance, transparency, and efforts to address unemployment and economic hardship among Nigerian youths.
